【NSTM’s collections】Equal-arm Balance

It was an instrument used to exam the standard of quality and quantity in the Japanese Governance Era. The standard weights used among the folks needed to be inspected by the Weights and Measures Institute of Monopoly Bureau of the Taiwan Governor’s Office to confirm their correctness.  Its maximum weight was 30 kg with precision to 50 mg.  It was taken over from the Japanese by the Weights and Measures Institute of Taiwan Province and had been used until 1970s.  Then it was donated to the NSTM by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2001.
