Science allows us to solve problems, leading to social progress, as well as bringing us more convenience. The pursuit of scientific progress is not just about continuing to research science, but also promoting scientific knowledge and creating environments conducive to scientific study and exploration, arousing public curiosity in science, improving people’s understanding of and trust in science, raising the scientific literacy of all Taiwanese people, and increasing our competitiveness on the world stage.

Since 2020, the Taiwan Science Festival has launched hundreds of different kinds of events, with close to 1,000 scientific sessions held. Over the years the Festival has become a highly-anticipated event, and it has attracted over 1.8 million participants. Each of the events are geared towards the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, showing the important contribution of science in implementing sustainable development. These events promote popular science and education through diverse, innovative, educational and entertaining means, inspiring interest in scientific inquiry among the general public.

The 5th Taiwan Science Festival has adopted the theme “Trust Science, Proceed to Sustainability”. It is being co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the National Science and Technology Council and will be organized by the five main science museums working in tandem with SciBases around Taiwan, local governments, higher-learning institutions, businesses and R&D institutes to showcase Taiwan’s great scientific potential.

This year there will be diverse range of experiences and events, scientific experiment demonstrates, science bazaars and popular science theater productions, to bring science to the masses, and to let them experience, like and trust science.
